Rural Lifestyle Options Australia

Community Service Provider

From friends to housemates 📬

Today, we are revisiting the heart warming story of Ronald and Caane, who formed an incredible friendship and now live together in one of Rural Lifestyle Options Australia’s Supported Independent Living (SIL) arrangements.

Ronald and Caane's bond grew through a shared love of bowling and regular trips to the local alley, which ultimately led them to become the close friends they are today.

Caane was the first to move into their home in South East Queensland, and when the time came for Ron to find a new place, it was a perfect match! Our Service Delivery Team can still vividly recall the day they took Ron to see the property for the first time reminiscing that he was completely overjoyed!

"We've been going grocery shopping with our Lifestyle Support Workers, who takes us to Coles and Aldi to get food and drinks. It's been really helpful!" shared Ron.

"We have a great time going bowling and visiting the local RSL on Friday nights. Ron loves dancing around the piano there, and there is an open stage where he likes to show off his moves. It's a blast!" added Caane.

"During the afternoons, Ron and I hang out together, cook dinner, and sometimes enjoy a few drinks in the evenings!"

- Caane
