Today marks National Close The Gap Day 🖤💛❤️

A day that highlights the fact that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are still dying more than 10 years younger than other Australians.

A day which calls to reduce disadvantage among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through improving health, employment and education outcomes.

A day which reminds us that we need allyship and action to overcome the inequality experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

A day to educate ourselves on this injustice and to use our voices to raise awareness in order to achieve health equality for all Australians.

What are you doing to recognise National Close The Gap Day?

You can take meaningful action now by signing the pledge to Close the Gap. 👇

Today, Rural Lifestyle Options Australia acknowledged National Close The Gap by hosting morning tea events across our offices in South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales.

As part of our commitment to reconciliation, attendees signed a petition calling on the Australian Government to:

🔹 Commit to providing adequate and long-term financial resources to achieve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health equality;

🔹 Invest in real partnerships, including increased Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participation and control around health service delivery;

🔹 Address critical social issues of housing, education and self-determination that contribute to the health crisis affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.

Today marks National Close The Gap Day, an opportunity to send our governments a clear message that Australians value health equality as a fundamental right for all.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples have some of the poorest health outcomes of any group of people in the world. On average, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples die more than 10 years younger than other Australians.

As part of our commitments under our Reconciliation Action Plan, Rural Lifestyle Options Australia invite you to play your part in closing the gap by taking meaningful action in support of achieving health equality for First Nations Peoples by 2032 by signing the petition.
